Siaga's coming home on April 2nd. I'm so excited. I've been working in the pasture and the barn, leveling the stall floor, removing debree and branches and sticks. I've still got a lot of work to do but it's coming along. I can't wait.
I'm going to hold off buying a load of sand to lay in the floor, I don't have the money for that and I'm more concerned with whether or not I've got the cash to get his hay and grain this round or if my parents will have to do me a favor and get it this month. I've got a limited supply of cash until I get a job, after all.
Anyways. I'm going to TSC tomorrow to get the buckets and hopefully some rubber mats. I also want to get a garbage can with a snap on lid to store multiple bags of grain in, but that's not necessary just yet, nor is a heated waterbucket. So long as he has a comfy bed, grass, hay, grain, and exercise, oh... and a farrier visit, he'll be ok.
I'll have to call around and find a good farrier and also got to get the vet out for a check up. My vet hasn't seen him in a long time.
One very big issue, though. The barn owner is charging a dollar for every mile they have to haul him. That's about $60 bucks. If they charge for the return trip, too, then there's $120. I'm hoping to get my old boss to haul him for me, since she's close by, and since I'll have to go, too, to get all my tack and supplies that I can find. Hopefully I won't have any issues with that. If I can't get my old boss to help, then I'm going to have to ask a big big favor of my friend's family or something. Gah!
Either way, I'm so excited to be able to see him every day and make sure he's happy. We might have issues though, since he won't have any stable mates other than me. The neighbor has a horse though, maybe she and I can go on rides together sometimes.
If my trailer had wheel's I'd haul him.. but I'm getting new tires so the trailer is on blocks. In other news... I've still not given up.. trying to get a small loan for the last bit of $$
ReplyDeleteThis sounds awesome! I love having the ponies at home so I can always check on them, and I don't have to worry about what a barn owner is doing (or not doing as the case is sometimes!) Plus it's just so much more fun :)
